Our Toy and Holiday Gift Drive for Children

December 1, 2016

Share on Twitter Share on Facebook Share on LinkedIn Share on Email

Picture of donated gifts for childrenThe light in a child’s eyes when they wake up and see gifts under the tree. The magic of believing in Santa. The warmth of peppermint and hot chocolate on a cold morning. Sadly, many homeless youth and at-risk children miss out on these holiday moments. When mom and dad struggle just to pay for everyday expenses like bus fare and groceries, paying for holiday gifts are a luxury many families can’t afford.

“We do this to help the people who are in need. You do it because you have a heart for it,” said Christine Bartell, who was Resource Manager at Alternative House during the holiday season. “That’s what we do. It’s our mission to help young people in need, their families, and their communities.”

You can help brighten a child’s holiday by giving a toy or gift this holiday season. Once again this year, Alternative House is collecting new, unwrapped holiday toys and gifts from now through December 15, 2016. Suggested items include gift cards for Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Marshalls, DSW, etc, sports equipment and gear, movie passes, arts and crafts kits, headphones or earbuds, waterproof winter boots, gloves, or mittens, jewelry, pots and pans sets, tool sets, and more.

Alternative House collects donations all year to help provide for youth, their families, and their communities. This year, help us provide the magic of the holidays to a child in need.
