Second Story has a tradition of hosting a back to school fair every year in August. We celebrate the new year, welcome community partners to share about their work, and distribute more than 500 backpacks filled with school supplies to youth in need. This year, of course, will be different – some youth will not be returning to school and we cannot safely host a back to school fair. But we still want to provide youth with school supplies whether they are learning at home or in a classroom.
We’re looking for your help to collect backpacks filled with school supplies for youth. Donations should include:
- a backpack
- lined paper
- a spiral notebook or composition book
- pens
- pencils
- pencil pouch/holder
- crayons, scissors, and glue sticks
Your donations will help provide youth a sense of normalcy as they look to an uncertain academic year and help ensure their education isn’t disrupted. We’re looking for at least 1000+ backpacks filled with school supplies to be donated by August 15th. This is an especially good opportunity for community groups, families, or church groups to do together! Please contact us or text 703.217.5205 if you are able to help.
