“Madi” hated how much she and her parents fought, but it was still an enormous blow when they kicked her out of the house. She wasn’t sure where to turn for help so she started crashing at friends’ houses. Finally, when she ran out of places to go, she went to an adult homeless shelter. When Madi found out she was pregnant everything changed — she knew she needed a more stable, nurturing home for she and her baby.
Madi found Second Story for Young Mothers and began making progress right away. She got a job at a restaurant, found resources to help her be a good parent, and obtained benefits. She’s even budgeting and saving to pay off her debt. She recently gave birth to a healthy baby and is eager to learn more about motherhood from Second Story. She hopes to enroll in a nursing certificate program next year to further her education.
