2018 Graduates

We could not be more proud of the young people in our programs graduating from high school! This year 100% of seniors in Second Story’s programs are graduating — 17 total. We can’t wait to see what they do next, and we’re eager to highlight just a few of Second Story’s 2018 graduating seniors!

2018 Graduate Diana

Diana

Favorite Subject: History
Future Plans: Hopefully someday becoming a writer. I would love to write books!
Favorite Memory of the Program: I love the fact that it was a safe place for me to go to after school with my friends. I was having trouble with depression at one point, and to be able to have more time with my supportive friends really helped me. I am very thankful for the Teen Center being part of my life.

2018 Graduate Brayan

Brayan

Favorite Subject: Anything that involved math and science. Government was also a very interesting class where I felt I could be me. My past and current volunteer experiences made my government class feel like a familiar subject.

Future Plans: Work full time as a Coding Instructor during the summer and start with my college education at Shenandoah University in the fall, where I will be majoring in Mathematics and minoring in computer science or physics.

Favorite Memory of the Program: My first interview to see if I could qualify for the Second Story services. This first event initiated one of the key reasons for me to continue pursuing my dreams.

Most Exciting Thing about the Future: That is unpredictable! I have been surprised so much with the support of people that push me to a better future that I don’t even know where I am going exactly. But I do know all the possible outcomes that I would like it to be. Whatever it is, I can’t wait to find out.
