Beacon of Hope Table Hosts

Table Hosts play a vital role in making Second Story’s Beacon of Hope Fundraiser a success. Their responsibilities are simple but meaningful: to invite and gather ten guests (including themselves) to fill a table, register their guests in advance, and follow up to ensure everyone is ready to join us on October 22.
Get Started
Use social media
Use social media when reaching out to guests about the event. Repost our content on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram to spread the word and keep people engaged. Sign up for our newsletter, so you can easily forward our correspondence about the event and other relevant news.
Invite guests and confirm registration
Our goal is for each Table Host to bring nine guests, creating a full table of ten including yourself. We encourage you to invite your guests to register, but you’re also welcome to register them yourself through our registration page, which will open in early September.
Check in on guests
Email guests one week before the event, and again the day before as reminders and to confirm attendance. Greet and thank them for their attendance and enjoy breakfast together. Following the event, check in with guests and request feedback.
FAQs
Do I have to pay for my guests to attend the event?
No, there is no cost to attend. As a Table Host, you are not responsible for paying for your guests or their seats. Your role is simply to invite and encourage your guests to attend the event.
Am I asking for money from my friends or family?
No, you are not directly asking for donations. However, it’s important to let your guests know that the event is designed to raise awareness about Second Story and to support our programs through fundraising. During the event, Second Story will share more about our mission, explain the need, and invite guests to consider making a donation. Please note: donations are not required to attend.
Can I still be a Table Host if I can't fill an entire table of 10 people?
Yes! While Table Hosts aim to fill a table of 10, it’s absolutely fine if you don’t. We often have guests who attend without a host, so we count on having a few tables with open seats to welcome them. Your participation as a Table Host is still very valuable!
How can I get additional information?
Please reach out to our Volunteer and Outreach Manager, Alex Villegas. She’d be happy to connect with you and provide more details!
