Lauren moved to Northern Virginia from her hometown just near Virginia Beach, VA in January of 2015, searching for opportunities to help those in need in the ever growing and changing community of Fairfax County. With a BS in Christian Ministry and Biblical Studies from Mid-Atlantic Christian University, she wanted to spread a message of hope and love to young people who were too often overlooked by the community.
Lauren first learned about Second Story through a local church, and shortly after, applied for an internship at Second Story for Teens in Crisis. After being touched by many of the teen’s stories and convicted by the mission of Second Story, Lauren applied to be a full-time residential counselor when a position opened up in September of 2015.
Since then, Lauren accepted a position as the Development Coordinator at the administrative office and has enjoyed serving Second Story’s youth by raising awareness through community outreach. Lauren hopes to someday have a family of her own and also become a foster mom.
